Lunch boxes with compartments that change as your child does. The Spixal Modular Range is our hard-shell bento collection: the Roundie, Quad and Core have removable dividers, the Duo pairs a sealed 4 compartment bento with an insulated food jar, and the Flexi is a single-compartment Crunch and Sip box. Every piece is BPA free, made from durable plastic or stainless steel, and colour-matched to our backpacks and lunch bags.

Which modular bento is right for your child?

Bento Size and capacity Compartments Best for
Roundie 19.5cm across, 1180ml 6 pockets around a centre dipping container. Remove dividers for 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 Grazers and dip lovers
Quad 20 x 14.5 x 6cm, 800ml 4, or remove dividers for 3, 2 or 1 Kids who never want the same lunch twice
Duo 22 x 18 x 7cm, 1350ml, plus a 200ml food jar 4, each sealed on its own A warm lunch and snacks in one set
Core 1200ml stainless steel base 3, or lift out the divider for 1 Older kids, teens and adults
Flexi 14.5 x 14.5 x 6cm, 550ml 1, with a leakproof 4-clip lid Crunch and Sip and fruit break

Why choose a lunch box with removable compartments?

  • Grows with your child: small sections for a fussy kindy eater, one big space for leftovers or a wrap as appetites grow.
  • Food stays separate: ideal for kids who won't eat food that's touching.
  • A lunch box with a thermos built in: the Duo's insulated jar keeps pasta, soup or leftovers warm, and opens with a single clip rather than a screw top.
  • Easy to clean: every modular bento is dishwasher safe. A hand wash in warm soapy water keeps it looking new for longer.
  • BPA free: part of our Food Safe Promise.

Which lids are leakproof?

The Duo seals every compartment on its own, and the Flexi's 4-clip lid is leakproof. The Roundie and Quad lids seal around the whole box rather than each section, so they're best for dry and semi-dry food. The Core's silicone-sealed lid makes the whole box leakproof, but its sections aren't sealed from each other. Pack yoghurt and dips in a sealed snack box, or choose a silicone lunch box that seals every section.

Modular Bento Lunch Boxes FAQs

What is a modular lunch box?

A lunch box with removable dividers, so you can change the number of compartments. The Roundie goes from 6 compartments plus a dip container down to one bowl, and the Quad goes from 4 to 1.

Change the layout before adding food, then check that the dividers sit properly and the lid closes freely. Remove a section when packing a wrap, or put it back for a lunch made of smaller snacks. A movable divider separates pieces of food but is not necessarily a liquid barrier. Wash the dividers separately so crumbs and residue do not stay underneath them between school days.

Which Spixal modular lunch box has the most compartments?

The Roundie, with six pockets around a centre dipping container.

Keep the smaller spaces for foods you want to serve separately, then remove dividers when a wrap or larger portion needs room. The centre pot is useful for a dip with its own lid. Decide the layout before filling, and check every piece is seated properly before closing the outer lid. The removable sections organise the meal; they do not create individual liquid seals, so plan wet foods accordingly.

Is there a lunch box with a thermos?

Yes. The Duo is a 1350ml, 4 compartment bento with a 200ml insulated food jar. Both open with a single clip.

The Duo's jar gives one part of the meal its own insulated container; it does not make every bento compartment insulated. Plan the remaining food separately, especially cold perishables. A small warm side and a few other foods can work well together when each is packed appropriately. Check that your child can open both closures, and include the right utensil so the warm part of lunch is as easy to eat as the rest.

Are modular bentos leakproof?

The Duo seals every compartment and the Flexi lid is leakproof. The Core's silicone-sealed lid makes the whole box leakproof. The Roundie and Quad seal around the whole box, so use them for dry and semi-dry food.

Movable pieces make the layout flexible, but the spaces around them can allow liquid to move. Use them to organise dry and semi-dry foods, and give sauces or yoghurt their own sealed container where the sections are not individually sealed. Make sure the divider is seated properly before closing the lid. If keeping several wet foods completely separate is the priority, choose a model designed with individual compartment seals.

Are Spixal modular bento lunch boxes dishwasher safe?

Yes. A hand wash in warm soapy water helps them last even longer.

Empty the box after the day and separate the removable pieces for washing. Pay attention to the edges where the lid meets the base and to any corners beneath dividers. Follow the care directions for the model, then let the lid and base dry fully before storing them together. A quick check of the sealing surface while packing is also useful: a trapped crumb can stop a lid sitting properly.
