Kids snack boxes sized for the breaks that happen before lunch. Whether your school calls it Crunch and Sip (Crunch&Sip), Munch and Crunch, Fruit Break or Brain Break, these reusable snack containers keep cut fruit, crackers and dips sealed, separate and ready for the lunch bag.
Which kids snack box do you need?
- Mini Snack Boxes (5 pack, 100ml each): Silicone, 8 x 8 x 4.5cm, with a leakproof seal. Just right for berries, yoghurt drops, dips or a handful of crackers, and they double as first-food containers for toddlers.
- Midi Snack Boxes (3 pack, 350ml each): Silicone, 11.5 x 11.5 x 5.5cm. The step up for a bigger recess, cut fruit, veggie sticks or a small side, in Brights or Bolds colour sets.
- Flexi Crunch and Sip Snack Box (550ml): 14.5 x 14.5 x 6cm with a secure 4-clip lid that keeps juicy fruit sealed in. Room for a piece of fruit, crackers or even a small sandwich. Six colours that match our bento boxes.
Why a separate snack box helps
Keeping fruit break and recess out of the main lunch box means kids eat the right food at the right break, and lunch isn't half gone by 10am. It also suits nude food policies, because there's no plastic wrap or packet to throw away. Every Spixal snack box is BPA free, food safe and dishwasher safe, though a hand wash keeps them going longer.
Crunch and Sip snack box ideas
- Apple slices with a squeeze of lemon so they don't brown
- Cucumber, carrot and capsicum sticks
- Berries, grapes (halved for little ones) or orange segments
- Cheese cubes and crackers, or hummus with veggie sticks in a Mini
Check your school's Crunch and Sip rules, as many only allow fruit and vegetables at that break.
Build the whole lunch kit
Snack boxes slot in beside a kids lunch box inside a lunch bag. Add reusable yoghurt pouches for soft snacks and a kids water bottle, and the whole school day is packed.

What to look for in a kids snack container
- Easy to open: practise at home so your child can open it at recess on their own.
- Leakproof for wet foods: choose a sealed box for yoghurt and dips, and test it before it goes in the bag.
- The right size for the break: a small box for Crunch and Sip, a bigger one for recess.
- Keep it cool: on hot days, pack snack boxes in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack.

Kids Snack Boxes & Snack Containers FAQs
Can the snack boxes go in a pie warmer?
Yes, the silicone Mini and Midi Snack Boxes are pie warmer safe, like the rest of the Spixal silicone range. They're handy for keeping a warm snack or side ready for a work break.
Choose the container for the equipment you actually have at work. Heat suitability for a silicone box does not make its carry bag, cutlery case or a different plastic bento suitable for the same appliance. Read the container's heating instructions and your workplace's rules before use. Keep food appropriately chilled during the trip, then handle the heated container carefully and use a heat-safe surface when you take it out.
What are the best snack containers for kids in Australia?
Leakproof ones in a few sizes, so fruit break, recess and lunch each have their own container. Spixal makes Mini Snack Boxes (5 x 100ml) and Midi Snack Boxes (3 x 350ml) in leakproof silicone, and the 550ml Spixal Flexi Snack Box with a 4-clip lid for Crunch and Sip. All are BPA free and dishwasher safe.
A Mini is useful for a small extra such as a dip or a few berries; a Midi has more room for a separate snack; the Flexi offers another size and a clip-style lid. Compare the portion you normally send with the capacity and opening style. A multipack gives you several containers of the listed size, not one container with that combined volume. Keep the intended break in mind when choosing.
What size snack box is best for Crunch and Sip?
The 550ml Flexi fits a piece of fruit or a full serve of cut fruit and veg. For smaller portions like berries or a dip, the 100ml Mini or 350ml Midi silicone boxes are a better fit.
Separate meal breaks are easier when the food for each break is easy to reach. Put the fruit-break snack in a small box and keep the main lunch closed until lunchtime. At home, practise getting that snack out without tipping the rest of the bag onto the floor. The right size is the one that holds the portion your child usually eats, with enough room for the lid to close cleanly.
Are the snack boxes leakproof?
Yes. The Mini and Midi have a leakproof silicone seal, and the Flexi has a secure 4-clip lid that keeps juicy fruit contained in the lunch bag.
Keep fruit juice and food away from the sealing surface before closing the lid. On a clip-style box, secure every clip; on a silicone box, check the lid is seated all the way around. Leave enough space that the contents do not push the lid up. A container that worked well yesterday still needs a quick check after washing, particularly if a lid has been mixed up with another size in the cupboard.
What can I pack in a snack box for Crunch and Sip?
Most schools ask for fresh fruit or vegetables at Crunch and Sip, so think apple slices, berries, orange segments, or cucumber and carrot sticks. Check your school's rules before packing crackers or cheese.
Check your own school's fruit-break guidance, because the allowed foods and timing can differ. Choose a container that your child can open and close quickly at their desk. Prepare food appropriately for their age and ability, and keep the lid with the box after the break. If the school asks for fruit and vegetables only, put other snacks in the separate recess container so there is no confusion about which food belongs to which break.
Are Spixal snack boxes dishwasher safe and BPA free?
Yes. They're BPA free, food safe and dishwasher safe. Hand washing in warm soapy water helps them last even longer.
Empty the box after the day and separate the removable pieces for washing. Pay attention to the edges where the lid meets the base and to any corners beneath dividers. Follow the care directions for the model, then let the lid and base dry fully before storing them together. A quick check of the sealing surface while packing is also useful: a trapped crumb can stop a lid sitting properly.
Do the snack boxes fit in the lunch bag with a bento?
Yes. They're designed to sit alongside a Spixal bento in our lunch bags, so fruit break, recess and lunch all travel together.
Pack the bento first, then see which snack box fits beside it with the cooling pack in place. A bigger snack portion may require a different arrangement, even when both pieces are from the same range. Avoid forcing the zip or squeezing soft containers under a rigid box. If the snack is eaten first, place it where your child can reach it without taking the main meal out of the bag.
