Kids Lunch Systems for Hot and Cold Food in One Box
A kids lunch system pairs a bento box with an insulated food jar, so a single lunch can carry both a cold sandwich and a hot serve of noodles or leftovers without a second container. It's the step up from a single bento for kids who want more than one temperature at lunchtime.
How to Choose the Right Kids Lunch System
If your child's happy with sandwiches, fruit and snacks, a standalone bento box is all you need. But if you want to send warm pasta on a cold day, or keep yoghurt properly cold in summer, a system with a dedicated insulated jar does that job a single bento can't. Look for one where the jar holds temperature for several hours, and where the bento and jar are sized to travel together in the same lunch bag.
Complete Your Lunch Setup
Pair your kids lunch system with a matching Junior Kids Lunch Bag sized to fit both pieces, or a kids backpack in the same print. Browse the full Bento Boxes range if you're after more compartment or material options.

Kids Lunch Systems FAQs
What is a kids lunch system?
This collection features the Duo Bento Lunch Box & Food Jar, pairing a compartment-style lunch box with a dedicated food jar. It gives you another way to pack a main meal alongside separate snacks.
Use the bento sections for the parts of lunch that need their own space and the small jar for the component that needs insulation. The jar's capacity is separate from the bento's listed capacity, so do not judge portions from the outside appearance alone. Plan a familiar meal first and practise unpacking it at home. The child should be able to reach the food, open the jar and put the pieces back afterwards.
How is a Duo lunch system different from a standalone bento?
A standalone bento organises food into sections. The Duo adds a food jar for the part of the meal that needs its own insulated container. Check the Duo product page for the included pieces and capacities.
Match the jar to the food portion rather than your child's age alone. A smaller jar can hold a warm side alongside a sandwich, while a larger jar suits the main meal. Before ordering, measure a usual serving into a measuring jug and compare it with the listed capacity. Also consider whether your child can open the lid and whether the filled jar fits upright in the lunch bag.
Does the food jar make the entire bento insulated?
The food jar is the insulated component. Do not assume the surrounding bento compartments keep food at the same temperature; pack each part of the lunch appropriately.
The Duo's jar gives one part of the meal its own insulated container; it does not make every bento compartment insulated. Plan the remaining food separately, especially cold perishables. A small warm side and a few other foods can work well together when each is packed appropriately. Check that your child can open both closures, and include the right utensil so the warm part of lunch is as easy to eat as the rest.
Can I choose a colour and matching lunch bag?
The Duo is listed in Black, Blue, Light Blue, Pink, Purple and Teal. Choose your colour, then compare the dimensions with your preferred lunch bag and any additional snack containers.
Start with the largest container, then allow for the smaller pieces you actually carry: a snack box, cutlery, cooling pack and perhaps a food jar. Check that the bag closes without pressing hard on the lids. Matching colours do not prove that every possible combination fits at once. If you already own a bag, compare its usable space with the dimensions of the containers before buying another full set.
