Leakproof silicone lunch boxes that go from the freezer to the microwave to the lunch bag. Our silicone bentos seal so yoghurt, dips and juicy fruit stay where you packed them, and the soft, flexible silicone is easy for little hands to open. Pick a sectioned bento, a one-bowl lunch box or a set of snack boxes, in five colours that complement the Spixal Axis backpacks. Not sure which three to pick? Most families choose a 3 or 5 compartment bento for the main, a 100ml Mini snack box for Crunch and Sip and a 350ml Midi for bigger snacks, so there's always one in the bag, one in the dishwasher and one ready for tomorrow.
Which silicone lunch box is right for you?
- 3 Compartment Silicone Bento (1200ml, 21 x 14 x 7cm): A main, a side and a snack, each in its own leakproof section. Big enough for a full school lunch or a work lunch.
- 5 Compartment Silicone Bento Box (1100ml): Five sections that each seal on their own, for grazers, fussy eaters and kids who won't eat food that touches.
- Silicone Round Bento (900ml): One leakproof bowl for pasta, fried rice, salads and leftovers. Microwave and air fryer safe, so it's handy for reheating at work.
- Silicone snack boxes: Mini Snack Boxes (5 x 100ml) and Midi Snack Boxes (3 x 350ml) for Crunch and Sip, dips and berries. See every snack box.
- Silicone pouches and bags: reusable yoghurt pouches, zip lock food pouches and reusable sandwich bags to replace cling wrap and squeeze packs.
Why choose a silicone lunch box?
- Leakproof: the silicone lids seal around each section, so wet and dry food stay apart.
- Freezer, microwave, oven and air fryer safe: prep, freeze, reheat and pack in the same box.
- Pie warmer safe: lots of Australian workplaces, especially mine sites, have a pie warmer for staff lunches. Spixal silicone bentos and snack boxes can go straight in to stay warm until your meal break.
- Dishwasher safe in any rack: top or bottom.
- Drop resistant: flexible silicone handles bumps and playground drops.
- Food-grade and BPA free: part of our Food Safe Promise.
Silicone vs plastic vs stainless steel
Silicone is the one to choose if you want to reheat in the same box, or need a seal on every section. Stainless steel is tougher and more grown-up but can't go in the microwave: see our stainless steel lunch boxes. Hard bentos with movable dividers suit kids who like to change their layout: see adjustable compartment lunch boxes. Or compare every option in our lunch containers.

Silicone Lunch Boxes FAQs
Can silicone lunch boxes hold runny liquids?
Spixal's can. The silicone bentos hold runny liquids like soup, milk and juice without leaking, as well as yoghurt and dips.
Keep food below the rim and wipe the sealing edges before putting the lid on. Press each section into place, rather than closing only the outside edge and assuming the internal seals are seated. Check the lid after washing for trapped food or damage. For a lunch with both a runny component and dry crackers, use the separately sealed sections deliberately and make sure the child can close them again after eating.
Can you put a silicone lunch box in a pie warmer?
Yes. The whole Spixal silicone range is pie warmer safe, including the 3 and 5 Compartment Silicone Bentos, the Silicone Round Bento and the Mini and Midi Snack Boxes. Many Australian workplaces, especially mine sites, have a pie warmer for staff, so you can pack lunch at home and keep it warm until your meal break.
Choose the container for the equipment you actually have at work. Heat suitability for a silicone box does not make its carry bag, cutlery case or a different plastic bento suitable for the same appliance. Read the container's heating instructions and your workplace's rules before use. Keep food appropriately chilled during the trip, then handle the heated container carefully and use a heat-safe surface when you take it out.
Are silicone lunch boxes safe for kids?
Yes. Spixal silicone lunch boxes are made from food-grade silicone and are BPA free. Every Spixal product is food safe certified.
BPA-free describes a material claim; it does not mean every item can be heated or washed in the same way. Use the care instructions for the exact container, including its lid, seals and removable parts. Before packing lunch, check that the closure is clean and the container is in sound condition. Choose the material around the job it needs to do, particularly if you want to reheat food at work.
Are silicone lunch boxes leakproof?
Ours are. The 3 and 5 compartment bentos seal around every section, and the Round Bento and snack boxes have a leakproof seal, so yoghurt and dips stay put in the school bag.
There are two separate questions here: can food escape into the bag, and can it move between compartments? A seal around the outside deals with the first; individual section seals deal with the second. Keep food clear of the sealing edges and close the lid fully. If a meal combines crackers with a runny dip, choose individually sealed sections or put the dip in its own closed container.
Can you microwave a silicone lunch box?
Yes. Spixal silicone bentos are microwave, oven, air fryer and freezer safe, so you can reheat leftovers in the same box.
Check the care directions for the exact silicone piece and the appliance you plan to use. Its heat suitability does not extend to a metal utensil, fabric bag or another container packed alongside it. Handle heated food and containers carefully and follow the appliance's instructions. For work lunches, choose food storage and reheating arrangements around the actual time until the meal break, rather than assuming a container can keep food safe by itself.
How do I clean a silicone lunch box and stop mould?
Pop it in the dishwasher, top or bottom rack, or wash it in warm soapy water. Take the lid off and let the box and seals dry completely before storing, as trapped moisture is what causes mould. For smells, soak in warm water with a splash of white vinegar or bicarb soda.
Wash the lid separately and check the edges that seal the compartments. Rinse away detergent after hand washing and let the pieces dry completely before closing them for storage. If food has dried on, soak it before cleaning so you do not need to scrape the surface. Do not put a damp box away in a closed lunch bag overnight. A clean sealing edge helps both hygiene and the way the lid fits.
What size silicone lunch box does my child need?
Most primary school kids do well with the 1200ml 3 compartment or 1100ml 5 compartment bento, which covers recess and lunch. Add a Mini or Midi snack box for Crunch and Sip.
Choose the shape of the sections around the meal, not just the total capacity. Three compartments leave a larger area for the main food; more sections divide the lunch into smaller portions. If the school has a separate fruit break, a small snack box can travel independently from the bento. Try packing a familiar lunch before the first school day, and check your child can manage the lid when the box is on the table.
