Kids & Children's Pencil Cases for School, Kindy & High School
A good kids pencil case keeps stationery in one place, so pencils don't end up loose at the bottom of the school bag. Choose from two ranges: fun Junior prints for younger kids, and the Axis twin-zip pencil case for upper primary and high school. Both match the rest of the Spixal school kit.
Junior Pencil Cases: Six Fun Prints
Made from durable polyester with a fully lined interior, the Junior pencil case weighs just 150g and measures 21.5cm x 9.5cm x 6.5cm, light enough for little kids to carry every day.
- One spacious main compartment for pencils, pens, markers and scissors
- A zip pocket on the front for erasers, sharpeners and smaller bits
- Six prints: Monster Truck, Let's Play, Dinosaur Roar, Astro Cat, Butterfly and Unicorn, matching our Junior backpacks and kids lunch bags
Axis Pencil Cases: Twin Zip in Matching Colours
The Axis pencil case is a rectangle, double zip pencil case made from the same sturdy cotton twill as the Axis Kids Backpack. Twin zips open from either end, so pencils are easy to grab, and a 30cm ruler fits inside. It comes in eight colours, Pink, Purple, Leopard, Camo, Blue, Navy Orange, Black and Green, matched to the Axis backpack and library bags, so it's a school pencil case that won't feel too young in high school.
Boys Pencil Cases and Girls Pencil Cases
Every Spixal pencil case is unisex, so kids can pick the one they love. Younger kids choose from Dinosaur Roar, Monster Truck, Let's Play, Astro Cat, Unicorn and Butterfly. Older kids can go bold with Camo, Leopard or Navy Orange, or keep it simple in Black, Blue, Green, Pink or Purple.

What to look for in a school pencil case
- Room for the booklist: check it holds pencils, textas, an eraser, a sharpener and a glue stick.
- A ruler that fits: from Year 2, most booklists ask for a 30cm ruler, so choose a long case like the Axis.
- Good zips: kids open their pencil case many times a day, so the zip needs to be sturdy and easy to pull.
- Something they won't outgrow: a plain colour like the Axis range still suits high school.

Kids Pencil Cases FAQs
What is the best pencil case for school in Australia?
It depends on the year level. For kindy to Year 1, the Spixal Junior Pencil Case ($19.99, 21.5 x 9.5 x 6.5cm) has a main compartment and a front zip pocket in six fun prints. From Year 2 to high school, the Spixal Axis Pencil Case ($9.99) is a long twin-zip case that comfortably fits a 30cm ruler, in eight colours that match the Axis backpack.
Start with the school's stationery list rather than the child's year level alone. A long ruler needs a different shape from a handful of crayons, and a child who carries several pens may want separate places for small items. Check that the loaded case can open on the desk without everything falling out. For younger children, practise finding the eraser and putting the pencils back before closing the zip. For older students, ask which items travel between classes and which stay in a locker. That gives you a more useful comparison than simply choosing the biggest case. Use the selected product page for the current price and available colours.
What size pencil case does my child need for school?
Two ranges. The Junior pencil cases (21.5cm x 9.5cm x 6.5cm, 150g) come in six fun prints with a main compartment and a front zip pocket. The Axis pencil cases are a rectangle twin-zip style in cotton twill, in colourways that match the Axis backpack.
Lay out the stationery the school asks for, then separate the items used every day from occasional extras. Keep small things such as an eraser and sharpener where they are easy to find, and check the longest ruler or pencil fits without pushing against the zip. A pencil case should close easily with its ordinary contents inside. Very bulky stationery may belong elsewhere in the backpack rather than being squeezed into the case.
Are the pencil cases for boys or girls?
Both. Every style is unisex, with six Junior prints and eight Axis colours to choose from.
Let the child choose the print or colour after checking the size needed for their stationery. Some older children prefer a plain case; others still want a favourite print. Neither choice changes what it needs to hold. If coordinating with a bag, match the Junior or Axis range name and selected colourway. Label the case separately, as it may spend the school day on a desk away from the backpack.
Will a Spixal pencil case fit in a school backpack?
Yes. Both ranges are sized to pack neatly into Spixal kids backpacks without taking over the bag.
A pencil case can sit in a smaller compartment where it is easy to reach without unpacking lunch. Check the school's list for bulky items before deciding how full to pack it. It is usually easier to carry the everyday stationery in the case and store less-used extras elsewhere. At the end of term, empty it completely so broken pencil tips and loose shavings do not keep working into the corners.
Which pencil case is best for high school and fits a 30cm ruler?
The Axis pencil case suits upper primary and high school. Its long, twin-zip design fits a 30cm ruler, with two compartments for stationery. The Junior pencil case is shorter and suits children carrying a smaller set of pencils and crayons.
Check the school stationery list before choosing. A 30cm ruler needs more length than a small pencil case offers, while a calculator or geometry set may need its own place in the backpack. Use one compartment for everyday pens and pencils and the other for smaller items such as an eraser and sharpener. Check that the loaded case closes without forcing the zip and that your child can find what they need between classes. The Axis colours coordinate with Axis backpacks and library bags.
Can you wash Spixal school pencil cases?
Yes. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth. The Junior pencil cases can also go in the washing machine on a gentle cycle.
Remove every pencil and small item, then shake out shavings and crumbs before wiping the fabric. Treat the lining and outer fabric according to that range's care directions; the Junior machine-wash guidance should not automatically be applied to an Axis case. Leave every zip open until the inside is dry. Put dry stationery back in only after checking the corners, where moisture can linger longer than on the outside.
Do the pencil cases match the backpacks?
Yes. Junior pencil cases match the Junior backpacks and lunch bags, and Axis pencil cases match the Axis backpacks and library bags.
Match the range name as well as the colour. A printed Junior piece and a plain Axis piece can look good together, but they are different designs. Open the individual product photos to see the complete print and trim. If siblings like the same design, add a name inside each bag and on removable lunch pieces so matching gear still finds its way to the right person.
